The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam is a prototype Mobile Suit constructed by ZAFT by reverse-engineering the four Stolen Gundams from the first half of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed. ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam and its sister suit, the Justice Gundam, would soon fall into the hands of the Clyne Foundation and quickly become the backbone of their military forces. The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam enjoys atmospheric flight without utilizing additional Striker Packs. On top of that, the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam features a High Mobility Aerial Tactics Mode, which reconfigures its wings for enhanced agility in the atmosphere and space. The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam bundles together an insane amount of firepower with its impressive array of fixed armaments. When activated simultaneously, the weapons create a Full Burst Mode attack to destroy multiple targets or decimate a single target with concentrated fire. The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam is one of the most iconic Mobile Suits from the Cosmic Era Universe, so check out this excellent Real Grade Rendition!

Included alongside the RG ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam for accessories:

  • MA-M20 “Lupus” Beam Rifle
  • Laminated Anti-Beam Shield
  • MA-M01 “Lacerta” Beam Saber x2
  • 1/144 Kira Yamato Figure
  • Action Base Adapter

Articulation
 –

The RG ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam was one of the earliest Bandai models to utilize pre-molded inner frame pieces in its assembly. These parts combine hard and soft plastics to create large movable joint sections, to which builders apply additional frame pieces and armor over the pre-molded parts. The RG Freedom Gundam uses twice as many pieces as its High Grade counterpart, providing much greater color accuracy on the 1/144th scale. The RG Freedom Gundam hosts countless articulation points within its slender frame, providing builders with extreme posing potential. The RG Freedom Gundam’s backpack also features numerous articulation points with its unfurling wing sections and a hidden set of M100 “Balaena” Plasma Beam Cannons that unfold and extend over the Mobile Suit’s shoulders.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

Each weapon features updated designs loaded with surface detail without straying from the silhouette of the source material. These weapons feature the same excellent color separation as the Freedom Gundam, providing some of the best-looking 1/144 scale weapons Bandai has ever made! The Laminated Anti-Beam Shield features a ball-jointed attachment point for a dynamic hold in any pose, with an additional handhold to fit right into the closed manipulator. The Freedom Gundam’s side skirts unfold into two MMI-M15 “Xiphias” Railguns, each with an articulated handle for a secure grip. Bandai provided instructions to achieve the Freedom Gundam’s Full Burst Mode, which unleashes the many weapons of the Mobile Suit all at once!

Description

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the Freedom Gundam with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.

Early RG so its very fragile and loses stability over time, definitely needs an action base and unless you really like this design of the freedom I’d pass since theres other options

  2. LordCmdrStryker (verified owner)

Oh boy, this one has some issues.
+ It’s an RG so it looks cool, I guess. (But not as cool as the RG Aile Strike)
+ Good assortment of accessories and weapons
= There is a LOT of blue, grey-blue, dark blue, red, and black on this kit, and they can VERY easily show stress marks. So be careful. (Luckily, the armor is still mostly white, which hides the marks pretty easily.)
    – The MS Joint is notoriously finicky, and this one is the worst I’ve built so far. Most of the joints are wobbly, especially the hips, shoulders, and head. It has MS Joint hands again, and the left pretty much self-destructed when I tried to pose it.
    – There are more hand options than the previous RG models, but the closed fist options can’t actually hold the weapons that are included, so your only holding options are the MS Joint hands. Which are bad. (Though there is a molded right hand for holding the beam rifle, which is good.)
    – The wings are HEAVY, so there’s pretty much no way this thing will be doing any kind of posing without an action base.

It really feels like this one suffers from poor planning and manufacturing tolerances. Get it if you’re a completionist, otherwise beware.
