Mew, the New Species Pokemon. Mew is the first of only 22 Mythical Pokemon introduced in the series’s 25-year run and is the only Mythical Pokemon from the First Generation. Mythical Pokemon are so rare that they are often not required catches to complete the Pokedex in their respective regions. Mew makes sparing appearances in the main series of Pokemon Games but finds itself as a primary character in multiple Pokemon Movies, which helped the adorable design become such a fan favorite. One of Mew’s most unique aspects is that it contains the DNA of all Pokemon within itself, allowing Mew to learn just about any move in the games.

Articulation –

Mew is the second entry in Bandai’s “PokePla Quik!!” model line. This line is not posable but provides a super adorable and easy-to-assemble build for all ages to enjoy! You won’t even need a pair of nippers to complete your Mew, as Bandai designed each part to pop right off the runner using minimal force! This Pokemon Mew model kit does provide a ball joint attachment for the tail, providing a small range of motion. The only stickers included with this model help builders recreate the blue sections of Mew’s eyes. These are not required, as the molded detail within the eyes makes hand painting super easy! Mew also includes a simple, clear base to showcase the model’s adorable pose.

Pokemon Mew Quick Model Kit

Bandai’s line of Pokemon model kits offers a fun and exciting building experience for all ages! Even first-time builders will have no problem with the Pokemon Mew Quick thanks to its reasonable piece count and easy-to-follow instructions. Additionally, the excellent price point of the Pokemon model kits makes them perfect candidates for experienced builders to try out new modeling techniques.

To drastically improve the appearance of your Pokepla, try implementing techniques such as seam line removal. Many of the early Pokemon models show some significant seam lines on visible parts, which some builders find undesirable and can lead to the separation of pieces over time. For a quick tutorial, attach the component you’d like to cement together, but leave a small but visible gap where the seam you’re trying to eliminate is. Using plastic cement such as AK’s Extra Thin Citrus Cement (which does indeed smell like citrus), run the applicator brush through the gap you created, filling it with a small amount of cement. After a few seconds, attach the parts all the way and hold while the cement works its magic. After the piece dries completely, begin sanding away at the seam and watch it disappear! It may take more than one application of cement to eliminate the seam, so try working on multiple pieces at once to increase efficiency. If you are not planning on painting the model, the seams may require additional sanding/polishing to match the texture of the bare plastic. Seam line removal is a great technique to learn, but it isn’t a perfect solution. Some of the seams are necessary for the model to articulate as intended, so find the right balance between a seamless static look and a functional model.

Be sure to finish your model with your preferred top coat to protect your hard work and give it a better feel in the hands!

These Pokepla kits a joy of a time passer. This one is extremely simple, and only took a few minutes to put together, but it’s such a nice little shelf piece. Good detail (for a simple design) and the tail is on a ball joint allowing you to move it around how you want. Grab one, put in your backlog, and then when you need to kill 10 minutes bust it out!
