HGUC #72 RGM-79FP GM Striker

Earn 16 Reward Points

The RGM-79FP GM Striker originates from the Harmony of Gundam collaborative project by Bandai and Sunrise. This initiative sought to create Universal Century Mobile Suit variations for the various Gundam Video Game franchises. All of the mechanical designs are the work of none other than Hajime Katoki! Katoki based this design on the RGM-79C GM Type C and gave it his special touch. This design is one of the more popular designs from the Harmony of Gundam, featured in multiple games and manga series. The RGM-79FP GM Striker even made a cameo appearance in the Gundam Build Divers animated series.

Here’s what Bandai included alongside the HGUC RGM-79FP GM Striker:

  • 100mm Machine Gun
  • Spike Shield
  • Twin Beam Spear
  • Beam Saber

For a 2006 release, the RGM-79FP GM Striker has a very well-engineered construction. The RGM-79FP GM Striker features double jointed knees and a ball-jointed ankle for supreme posability below the belt. The elbows are double-jointed to Allow the RGM-79FP GM Striker to wield its weapons with ease! This model uses under 150 pieces to create this sweet rendition of the RGM-79FP GM Striker, so new builders should be more than comfortable giving this one a shot.

Weapons and Other Notable Attributes

The RGM-79FP GM Striker uses the same 100mm Machine Gun as the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type. The RGM-79FP GM Striker’s Spike Shield also resembles the one used by the Ground Type as well. The spikes on the shield are retractable, thanks to the added sliding gimmick. The crown jewel of the HGUC RGM-79FP GM Striker is the Twin Beam Spear. This finely molded weapon comprises an articulated handle with two standard Beam Sabers. Don’t worry! Bandai has included two sets of Effect Parts to display the Twin Beam Saber and the Standard Beam Saber.

HGUC #72 RGM-79FP GM Striker

Tips and Tricks –

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the HGUC #72 RGM-79FP GM Striker with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. If you’re up to a challenge making panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before the application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
