#03 Going Merry One Piece Grand Ship Collection

Descending the rapid flow of Reverse Mountain comes the Going Merry! This adorable little pirate ship carried the Straw Hat Crew as they left the East Blue and headed towards the Grand Line. The Going Merry is relatively small compared to other pirate ships, especially the ones present in the Grand Line and beyond. These Grand Ship Collection renditions are not in scale, allowing the designers to showcase the intricacies throughout Oda’s designs in much greater detail. With the waves as their pillows and the Going Merry as their roost, Luffy and his friends took to the seas where our funny traveling tale truly began! Add Going Merry to your model kit collection today and join the Straw Hats as they set sail to the ends of the sea!

Included alongside the Going Merry for accessories:

  • Display Base
  • Water Effect Part

Notable Attributes:

This Grand Ship Collection model builds into an immaculate version of the Going Merry! Merry hasn’t appeared this pristine since Kaya first gifted the ship to the Straw Hats and their newest member, Usopp, after defending Syrup Village. This model ship is unlike any traditional model ship you’d find on the shelves of your local hobby shop, as the Going Merry is a snap-build kit made for assembly without any tool requirements! Bandai designed each part to pop right off the runner without any nippers, and they included a thorough sheet of color-correcting stickers for a great display piece right out of the box. The lower hull of the Going Merry easily separates from the rest of the ship, allowing builders to choose between displaying the ship in its entirety or just what’s above water level!

This kit includes:

4 Runners total (A, B, C, D)
Total Piece Count – 54 Pieces
Foil + Marking Stickers

By implementing the technique of Top Coating, you can do a great deal to help preserve the longevity of your models. This process will protect the original plastic of your model kit and prepare it for any additional modeling techniques to follow.

You can drastically improve your results by making the details pop on the Going Merry with Panel Lining. The simplest solution for this is Gundam Markers or Tamiya Panel Line Fluid. Making your own panel wash is always a great option too! It is always recommended to Topcoat with clear gloss beforehand, as some of the products commonly used for Panel Lining will degrade the untreated plastics over time.

Another way to keep adding detail is by applying Stickers/Marking DecalsTop Coating before application will help decals stick to the surface much better. Using Top Coat after application will help hide the seams on traditional sticker decals as well as waterslides. This additional step will also keep them from peeling over time. Using Decals is a great way to add an even greater level of detail to your scale models.
